Elder Jason Elquist, August 17th, 2015

So this last week and a half has been pretty eventful. I was riding my bike and all of the sudden I lost my balance because I was riding my bike with no hands and I went to grab my handle bars to gain my balance and over shot with my right arm and I went flying off my bike.  All of the sudden I heard this loud snap when my right arm/wrist hit the ground. I tried to bike home but my bike was broken and I couldn't feel my right arm.  We walked to hospital and they took some xrays and I found out that I broke my arm and wrist and I saw the xray of where it was broken.  3 days later I went into get some more xrays and a hard cast and the new xrays didn't show any fractures or anything. I did some soft tissues damage to my arm and my wrist is so fragile that if I was to crash or land on my arm it would break. I know that God healed my arm up good so I can work hard but he let it hurt so I learn my lesson to be safe on my bike while on a mission. I know that God can heal anyone regardless of who you are. I know that we can also we healed from the effects of sin.

Elder Jason Elquist, June 1st, 2015

So last week was a good one, we may not have taught that many lessons but by us going out and working as hard as we can we showed the Lord that we are willing to do anything for him.   So this Thursday I get to go and baptize Michelle. She was my investigator that I was teaching in my last area. I am way excited about that.  I have learned that there are tender mercies happening all the time for us. Just the fact that we wake up every morning is a tender mercy. We just need to retrain the way we think and see to be able to understand that no matter what Jesus Christ is helping us along the way.  He wants us to achieve anything and everything.

I know that no matter who you are and what you have done the Savior Jesus Christ has his arms wide open and is just waiting for you to run to Him. Sin is so evil that you have to run, just like how Jesus taught that principle upon principle. Satan is trying to get you to keep stacking your sin so high that you feel like you can not repent. But we are stupid to think that Christ died on the wooden cross for all the sins and that we cannot repent.  Who are we to say that Christ will not let us repent?  How dare we speak for the perfect speaker, How dare we limit what Christ can do? I challenge all you guys to take Christ atonement and use it in your lives. Christ did not just die for us to repent, He suffered all matter of pain and affliction so He can know how to help us. In the name of Jesus Christ our savior and redeemer, Amen

Catching up with Elder Jason Elquist, May 26th, 2015

Dear Family and Friends,
Today I have almost been out for 8 months and I want to bare my testimony to yall.
I know that the Church Of Jesus Christ is the lords kingdom once again restored to the Earth(Book of Mormon Introduction last two sentence) and that the Book Of Mormon is the word of god to his prophets here in Americas. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of The word and that he is are brother. I know that the Plan of Salvation is true and that we will all be able to live with are family's again and that we will live with Heavenly Farther and his son and our brother Jesus Christ. I know that we are able to repent and become clean from the saving blood of Jesus Christ. It took me along time to do for my self that these things are true. I say these things in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

So this week is going to be great because Deloris is getting Baptize this Thursday at 6 and she ask me to perform the baptism!

Satan will always try to tear you down after a spiritual experience like he did with all of the prophets. The thing we did to do to make it so that satan and his angles do not have that strong of effect on us is the simple things: Pray, scrpiture study, and going to church(CPR for are spirits)  D&C 10:5. Love you guys

This week has been way good. We taught are investigator Bob Oye this last Tuesday and we just went guns out to find out why he will not get baptize. all he told us was a bunch of excuse but all his excuse have to do with some in his past that he doesn't want to forget.

other then that we talk to all of people, we talk to 100 people this week on the street and we did a lot of biking.

Are mission president decide that the only elders and sister who will have cars will be the YSA, Zone Leaders and sister training leaders. so I am once again in a full time bike area but Hey atleast I love riding my bike.

Elder Jason Elquist, March 16th, 2015

This week has been a long but good week. Last night we received a text from our zone leaders about an investigator who moved from Utah to Temecula and lives in the ward that I'm serving in. the investigators name is Austin and he is 10 years old and he has been taught all the lessons and all my companion and I need to do is get him interviewed by our district leader and then baptize Austin so that is a miracle. We should baptize him next week.

Also Delorise is set to be baptized next week but she needs to give up coffee but she has been using it to help her legs not swell up and keep the fluids normal. So we might be able to baptize her even though she is drinking coffee. we are just waiting to hear from the Mission President.

Elder Jason Elquist, March 9th, 2015

This is been a very short week with long days. I found out that raccoons look a lot like black cats and if you try to pick up a raccon at night it will try to bite you.  Lucky for me I didn't get bit. I also found out that if you shoot a raccoon with a sling shot it will not die.

On Wednesday we taught Michelle and we sang a lot and then on Sunday we taught Michelle about testimonies and bore testimony.

Did a lot biking again I found out that it is easier to bike up hills if you ride on the side walk. also tires  for bikes will cost you about 90 bucks for two if you find the right one or else you will spend 65 each.

Also I found out that I have been sleep talking and walking. I freak my companion out because I was walking around the apartment and was talking. so that is new!

Elder Jason Elquist, March 2nd, 2015

This week was a really good week, We taught Deloris and her daughter the restoration and Deloris told us how she tried to quit drinking coffee but her legs swelled up so she doesn't think she will be able to quit drinking coffee. Then we taught Michelle twice this week and both lesson were really good, Just waiting for her to turn 18 so she can get baptize. Also we taught Brittany about the Plan of Salvation and next week we are going to extend her a baptism invite. Believe or not I did not crash at all this week on my bike so I am making progress. soon I will be able to bike like a zebra runs through the jungle or a monkey swinging on tree branches.

Elder Jason Elquist, February 17th, 2015

So this last week has been pretty eventful.

My companion and I picked up a new investigator name Brittany who is dating a priest in the ward. The only way we can teach her is by doing Skype lessons, due to the fact that her stepmother doesn't want us in her house and she doesn't want to meet us somewhere because it sounds weird.

My area is no longer a part time car area, it is now a full time bike area and my legs hurt because there are so many hills. I usually can get to sleep real easy because by night I am just ready to go to bed.( My nights go like this: do daily planning, put on some music (usually some Christen Country music), shower, pray and then go to bed.

Also, last night I crashed on my bike.  I was going really fast down a hill and I thought I could make a turn and my bike slid out and it bent my front rim. It cost me 118 bucks to get a new tire.

Ceremonial burning of the 6th month tie.

Pleased to see stuff that we have sent him showing up on his desk!

Elder Jason Elquist, February 2nd, 2015

This last week was a pretty good week.  We taught Delorise about Temples and Family history work and it was really cool to see her face light up when she found out that she could be married to her husband forever even through he is dead and then she showed us all the family history work that she has done and I have never seen so much family work.  It took up two binders and I could make a fist and both binders were still bigger than my fist, but hey what else do you do when you're 86. Then we taught Michelle about Standing in holy places and then after the lesson with Michelle she asked us question about the FLDS and excommunication which was really weird but yeah it was just really weird.  Also from the Salt and Ice challege I have 3 scars that are about the size of ice cubes. hehe

Elder Jason Elquist, January 26th, 2015

I never know what to write in the group email.
So last Tuesday we had a zone activity and my fear factor both went really well and the best was when the sister missionary tried bobbing for apples in the fish tank with the gold fish. (Did you know that some gold fish only cost 17 cents). I don't think  I will be ask to help out with zone activity anymore because I did so well with my fear factor both.
We invited my investigator name Deloris to get baptized ( Deloris is a 90 year lady) and her answer was "I am down to get baptize Mormon". It was really hard not to laugh to hear her say I'm down. Deloris wants to get baptized in March so she can have her  whole family there.

Elder Jason Elquist, January 20th, 2015

I am doing great just had a really busy week. My companion and I picked up a new investigator named mike today and he is a really sweet guy he has been taking the JW lessons so hopefully we will have success with him but I am kind of worried that one of these times the JW will try to bible bash with us but I don't like to bash. Nothing crazy has happened to me this week just been trying to not crash on my bike but lets be honest I have gotten to be great at biking. Which reminds me of when a little kid once told me how he didn't have to stop and get off his bike when he needed to get on to a curb. He then tried to show my companion and I how he didn't need to stop but what happened was he crashed but the little kid was tough and played it off. Love you guys,

Elder Jason Elquist, January 5th, 2015

Man, I have been a slacker!  Jason is doing great.  He is now serving in Temecula, with Elder Guerrero.  He sounded and looked great when we were able to Skype with him over Christmas.  Here are a few of his updates:

December 12th:
We manage to pick up a new investigator and then drop the new investigator. So, what happen was we were biking around a neighborhood going to a less activite member house and then this guy stop us and ask for a book of mormon and we start talking and we set up a return appointment with this guy for the next day. So, we show up and the guy invities us in and we starting talking and he went to grab a book and the book was an anti mormon book. My companion and I saw it and pretend not to let that bug us. we start the lesson off with a pray and after the pray the guy made fun of pray and told us how he is an athesis. we taught him the restoration and after that he made fun of us some more and then read some stuff to us proof how we are wrong the funny thing is that all the stuff he read to us was false and he told us how The mormon reliegion believe that when a black person getts baptize that their skin becomes white. so after that I decide that it was time for us to leave because I really thought this guys was not going to let us leave untill we say that there is no god. So that was fun.

December 24th:
Merry Christmas and Always have the spirit of Christmas in your live no matter what season it is because if you drop the mas it is the spirit of Christ.

December 29th:
Sup Bros,

Nothing new has happen to me but I got yelled at by an old lady for 30 mintues last week about offering her a card about how Jesus was the first gift of Christmas. I am just happy she didn't have a heart attack. I found out that she was athesit and she didn't like how a lot of religons do not accept homosexuals  to get married. Also I am getting Transferred and I have no clue were I am getting Transferred because this mission tells everyone who is getting transferred to go to a big meeting and then they find out where they are getting Trasnfers so that will be fun and Good learning experience.

January 5th:
Hey Guys,

I am now serving in The Temecula ward in Temecula. My first day in this area and we were teaching a new investigator and she said she will get baptize on the 24 which is way nice and we currectly have 9 investigators that we are teaching. My mission presdint told me that I could practice ASL and use it which will be fun. It also snow here and it is really cooled when it comes to running. I didn't think I would see snow on my mission.
